It's not all the time you get to host a trivia function or event as an MC. And when I say not all the time, I mean hardly any of the time.
Which is interesting, because trivia is an incredible way to liven up any sort of team-building function or event. Or even just a great way to get back to into the swing of things after Christmas holidays, or a pandemic you might say...
I had the pleasure of hosting exactly this for Figurehead construction. It was a company event where there was some information to get across, but the real goal of the evening was for the employees to let their hair down and have a bit of fun out of the 'work' mindset.
One thing I love observing in company trivia is the team rivalries that are happening before the trivia's even begun. There's nothing like some office competition to, you might think ironically, bring people closer together. Staff begin to let their guard down and interact with one another in a playful and fun way.
From the best Arnie impersonation, to paper basketball (MJ23 would be proud!), to bonus points for schmoozing up to the host, this trivia was a blast.
Such a willing and giving bunch of people made it an awesome night and a great change of pace for me as an MC.
